Need for the holistic reboot of the agriculture sector



Reasons:

1. lack of adequate prices for form output
2. Rise in cost of inputs
3. Absence of substantial direct procurement by govt
4. Ground-level procurement often does not take place at the stipulated support price

What government done?

1. Increased MSP of Kharif and rabi crops
2. promised to double farmers income by 2020

What can be done?

1. Implement Price deficiency payment scheme  & private procurement plan
2. Restrictive trade policies need to be eliminated
3. Government interventions should promote productivity
