Road Accidents in India Report



Released by Ministry of Road Transport & Highways

Findings:
  1. In 2017 - 1,47,912 people dead - due to accidents
  2. No decline , in rate of people who die per 100 accidents
  3. Cyclists/pedestrians fatality raised from 29% in 2016 to 37% in 2017.
Challenges in improving road safety:
  1. No professionalism , designing & maintaining quality roads & public transport
  2. Road safety councils , not able to change their bad record
  3. Police force lacks training
  4. Figures from road accidents are viewed as overestimates, there by lacking attention
  5. poorly performing policies & programmes
